Air China Sells 8 A330-200s to Air China Cargo for Freighter Conversion

Air China has announced that it will sell eight Airbus A330-200s to its affiliated cargo carrier, Air China Cargo. The aircraft are expected to be converted into freighters and will be used to expand Air China Cargo's fleet.

The eight aircraft were introduced to Air China between 2006 and 2008. They are all powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 772 engines. Two of the aircraft are currently stored, while the other six are still in service.

Air China Cargo is controlled by China National Aviation Holding, which is also the controlling shareholder of Air China. The cargo carrier currently operates nine Boeing 777-200LRFs, four 757-200Fs, and three 747-400Fs. It has four more 777-200LRFs on order.

The sale of the eight A330-200s is part of Air China's fleet optimization efforts. The airline is looking to retire older aircraft and replace them with newer, more efficient models.

The conversion of the A330-200s to freighters will help Air China Cargo to meet the growing demand for air cargo services. The cargo market is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, as e-commerce continues to expand.

The sale of the A330-200s and the conversion of them to freighters are positive developments for Air China and Air China Cargo. The moves will help the airlines to improve their efficiency and profitability, and they will also help them to meet the growing demand for air cargo services.
