Air New Zealand traffic in October down 9% from 2019
Air New Zealand carried 1.25 million passengers during October, up 267% year on year but still down by 9% compared to the same month in 2019.
Capacity in October increased more than five times year on year, while revenue passenger-kilometres grew 10 times year on year, the carrier says.
Passenger load factor rose by 39 percentage points to nearly 89%.
The airline carried about 905,000 passengers on domestic routes, up 171% year on year. On Tasman/Pacific routes, it transported 259,000 passengers versus 3,000 in October last year.
The carrier increased domestic capacity by 161%, while traffic grew by 235%. For its Tasman/Pacific network, Air New Zealand increased capacity by 1808% and RPKs increased by 7250%.
Load factor on domestic routes grew by 20 percentage points to 90%, while the load factor on Tasman/Pacific routes increased by 69 percentage points to 94%.
The airline carried 86,000 passengers on long-haul routes, up from just 3,000 in October 2021. It increased capacity by 724%, while revenue passenger-kilometres rose by 2553%. Load factor increased by 58 percentage points to 85%.
