Icelandair To Take On Detroit Flights By 2023
Icelandair has announced its newest gateway to the North American market as part of its projected network expansion beyond 2023.
Flights will begin operating from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) on May 18, 2023, with four weekly non-stop flights until October 30, 2023 for the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) to Reykjavik, Iceland (KEF).
The airline will be operating flight 872 to Iceland on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm, and will be using a 160-seat Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for this flight. As part of the return journey, flight 873 is scheduled for departure from Iceland on the same day at 5:00 pm with an arrival time of 6:25 pm in Detroit.
In terms of flight time, the journey from the Motor City to Iceland will take approximately six hours, and you can take advantage of Icelandair's hub at Keflavik International Airport, which has connections to over 25 destinations in Iceland, Greenland, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, and Continental Europe.
It is also possible for Icelandair passengers to stop over in Iceland for up to 7 nights on their way to their final destination, without having to pay a single cent more on airfare. In the coming months, Icelandair will be offering Detroit residents a refreshing new choice when it comes to planning a trip to Iceland and beyond.
“Icelandair’s DTW service will allow passengers to travel to and from Europe in new, fuel-efficient planes, with modern amenities, including gate-to-gate Wi-Fi and inflight entertainment available for all passengers,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, president & CEO of Icelandair Group.
