AirAsia to Establish New Cambodian Subsidiary
AirAsia Aviation Group, the new airline entity of Capital A, has entered into a joint venture agreement with Sivilai Asia to launch a new low-cost subsidiary in Cambodia.
This new airline will allow AirAsia Aviation to operate to the various existing markets where it already has presence and operations to build scale, network connectivity and further reduce the cost of operations, the group says.
AirAsia Cambodia aims to further stimulate the Cambodian aviation and tourism industries, launch new destinations, create jobs and bring a true low-cost operation to the country.
The group operates five routes to Cambodia from Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, and from Penang to Phnom Penh starting 23 January 2023. It will also begin routes from Don Mueang in Bangkok to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.
The new JV is expected to commence operations in late 2023, subject to obtaining the relevant regulatory approvals.
