Iraqi Airways Receives First Boeing 787 in Baghdad for Expanded Long-Haul Network
Iraqi Airways receives its inaugural Boeing 787 aircraft in Baghdad, marking the beginning of a significant expansion plan. The Middle Eastern carrier has placed an order for a total of 10 Dreamliners, consisting of nine 787-8s and one 787-9, aiming to enhance its long-haul network and establish more international connections for Iraq.
Additionally, Iraqi Airways has confirmed the procurement of six 737 Max 8s and 10 Max 10s from Boeing. Notably, the carrier has already put four of the 737-8 narrowbodies into active service, as per data from Cirium fleets.
With over 50 destinations served from Baghdad, Iraqi Airways demonstrates its commitment to comprehensive air travel offerings. Alongside the Max jets and 787, the airline boasts a diverse fleet comprising 16 737NGs, six Mitsubishi Aircraft CRJ900s, five A320-family jets, four Airbus A220s in storage, two 747s, two 767s, one 777, and one A330. Additionally, there is one A220 on order to further enhance their capabilities.
